Catholic Truth is a bi-monthly newsletter written by, and for, ordinary Catholics in Scotland and beyond. We offer a unique insight into the current crisis in Catholicism with an emphasis on the Scottish perspective.
Our published newsletter is widely read around the world, and the latest edition is available online from our Newsletter page.
Keeping the Faith
entails reminding ourselves of what is and is not authentic Catholic doctrine. It means comparing
what is being taught now, by popes, bishops and priests, with what has always been taught, to
enable us to recognise false teaching when we read or hear it and to avoid falling into error.
Keeping the Faith means learning to distinguish essential doctrines from devotional practices,
believing the former without doubting, and cherishing the latter as befits a truly Catholic mind. Remember your prelates, who have spoken the word of God to you; whose faith follow… Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. (Hebrews 13:7, 9)
Telling the Truth
entails reporting facts about the state of the Church, when necessary, however unpalatable. Our satirical, straight-talking approach with regard to our shepherds, is sometimes misunderstood as lack of charity by those who think “charity” means being “nice” all the time. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! (Matthew 23:13-15)
