We’ve been asked to publish a thread to allow visitors to this site to post requests for prayers, asking for a remembrance for a special intention, that sort of thing. Since the blogger who made the suggestion goes by the name “Guardian Angel”, how could we refuse?
So, if you wish us to add your special intention to our prayers, please click on ‘comments’ with your request. Or if you have a link to an item of spiritual or devotional interest or a story of a miracle to share – anything, really, that falls into the “spiritual/devotional” category, this is the thread for you!

Editor
Thank you for this thread.
I found the Holy Hour earlier this week so good that I realised that such quality prayer time was lacking in my life and that it’s easy for material concerns to take over.
Can I suggest that this weeks Holy Hour should be offered for the Bishops of Scotland. Their shortcomings are many but we cannot criticise on the one hand without sincerely praying for them on the other.
This is not a smug ‘we are right, they are wrong’ attitude. They have a difficult task and we should pray that they rise to it. May they have deep faith, true courage and be loyal Sons of the Church.

A Holy Hour offered for the Bishops of Scotland, yes certainly. But may I suggest we also include the Bishops of England, Wales and even Ireland.
Shall we set aside Tuesdays for Holy Hour, or, whenever we can during the coming week? -
rebel on August 8, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I can’t say any set time for Holy Hours – so I don’t really like this idea. Sorry. A general commitment to making a holy hour when I can, yes, but you have to remember that people have work commitments that don’t always allow regular slots at particular times. All I can commit to is remembering people’s intentions in my rosary.
I think we should all pray for the politicians, north and south of the border, who seem to be corrupt themselves and introducing more and more immoral legislation. Assisted Suicide looks like being next.

the convert on August 8, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I thought leprechaun had already proposed, and both Athanasius and Miles Christi Sum had seconded, that this Tuesday’s Holy Hour Rosary be offered for Elizabeth who is a victim of terminal cancer. I shall be offering mine for that intention.
Let us make the third Holy Hour for the Bishops, and I suggest some sort of calendar whereby intentions be agreed and stuck to.
-
editor on August 8, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Well, the convert, I suppose it means that somebody has to take responsibility for selecting the intention for the Holy Hour, so I suggest the enthusiasts take week about.
I further suggest that – since leprechaun has had his turn – we let Guardian Angel select the next topic. Or, since I’m in a suggestible frame of mind, if you are willing, you could draw up a calendar of topics, post it on here and once it is seconded, it’s written into Blog Law.
Do the “ayes” have it?
-
Guardian Angel on August 8, 2009 at 9:22 pm
The Bishops was just a general idea. Let’s have the first one for Elizabeth who is seriously ill with the Bishops the following week. For simplicity the hour will be Tuesday for those who can, any other time for those who cannot make that specific time.
Is that ok with everyone??
Editor, I’m beginning to seriously like you! (that should get me a few ‘get out of jail free’ cards from the rolling pin!

When I posted the request for a sort of “devotional” blog, Editor said she was starting this one for prayer requests etc., so I take it I can post devotional things here.
-
editor on August 10, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Yes, I intended this to be a general response to the requests for something of a spiritual/devotional nature. Maybe I should make that clear in the blurb. Will do so.

Could bloggers please pray for my wife, who is due to give birth in next few weeks? Prayers for a safe delivery would be appreciated.

You can count on my prayers also for a safe and healthy delivery.

I will also be remembering Elizabeth this Tuesday. This is what we all agreed.

Petrus, I will be praying hard for the safe and timeous delivery of Patrick/Patricia… !
I’ll be visiting Betty tomorrow, so will put an update on the blog when I return. I’ll tell her that the convert has even pushed out the boat to mention her on this thread – a Jacinta takeover bid, I’ll tell her!

Patricia, you say? Surely you mean Martina? I would also settle for Josephine!
Please tell Betty we’re all still thinking of her and praying for her.
-
Naomi on August 12, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Petrus, you probably know that St. Gerard Majella is the appropriate patron saint for your wife at this time. I clutched a relic of him, that someone lent, me during the birth of my second son and, when he was delivered with marginally less drama than the first (I don’t suffer in silence!), I gave him Gerard as a second Christian name.
So, St. Gerard Majella, pray for her.

Naomi on August 12, 2009 at 12:53 pm
I’ve only just caught up with this thread and can’t find a decision regarding the Tuesday Holy Hour timing. I know someone objected that the same time for all couldn’t very well be achieved, but it seems a shame not to have a ‘united at the same time’ bit. Could we not, whatever we are doing, say, at a given time (e.g. 12.00 noon) “I offer up my Holy Hour today for (name intention)”?
-
editor on August 12, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Oh dear, I think I’ve got mixed up. I told Jacinta (Betty) today that the bloggers were offering a Holy Hour for her every week for the foreseeable future.
So, may we keep her in the Holy Hour intention? If I could suggest re. the timing, that Naomi’s suggestion of noon brought to my mind Betty’s devotion to the Angelus which she prayed every day until her illness. So maybe Noon – 1pm is a good time.
Would the “ayes” click on “noon” on their keyboards now…
-
Petrus on August 12, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Does the time factor really matter? If we all agree to do a Holy Hour at some point in the week that should suffice.
-
Naomi on August 13, 2009 at 11:46 am
I didn’t mean noon (1.00pm) as the time for making the HH but just as a time when we could, all together, state the intention we would make it for, making it later (or sooner) then, at our own convenience.

Please pray for Petrus’s wife who is now in early labour and may have to have a scan to rule out complications. Given that Petrus is one of our regular lead bloggers, I’ve posted a special notice thread to welcome, when the time comes, this new baby.

May I ask all bloggers to offer a prayer for the repose of the soul of Fr. Didier Bonneterre (SSPX), who was killed in a car accident in France on Sept. 15 (Feast of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady). May I also ask prayers for Fr. Francis Gallagher (SSPX) who was injured in a car accident in July. Father is presently recovering from a broken pelvis.

I’ll certainly remember these priests in my prayers, Athanasius, and I think we should pray especially for all our SSPX priests who do an immense amount of driving in order to administer the Sacraments.
On my visit to the SSPX school in Berkshire some years a go, I passed an horrendous road accident which turned out to involve one of the SSPX priests who, thankfully, was not badly hurt. They do such a tremendous amount of driving in order to serve us, so we ought to pray for their safety.

Thank you for the prayers, everyone. I’m truly humbled by the family spirit on the blog.
We’ve been to the hospital for an emergency scan and, thankfully, everything is ok. Labour has started, but is progressing very slowly. I will update everyone, via the Editor, when things start moving on.
In the meantime, from my wife (the blogger Martha) and I, thank you so much and God bless.

Most urgent prayer request.
I have received the following request for prayers from a reader in the USA…
Please pray for Dan Nelson and his 4 year old son, Sam of northern Wisconsin, U.S.A.
They were hit yesterday on their ATV driving from a farm field to the farm yard, along the edge of the road. A SUV traveling at a high rate of speed hit them. The ATV is embedded in the grill of the SUV.
Both Dan and Sam are in intensive care units in two separate hospitals an hour apart from each other, and an hour and a half away from their farm and the other children.
The four year old is suffering the most critical injuries with skull and facial fractures and some lung damage. He is on maximum life support.
Please keep the Nelson family in your prayers. Thank you.

From a lady in America…
Dear Friends,
Urgent prayers are needed for a young mother, Alicia Bradley, who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor (the tumor is not contained, it has “fingers,” making it impossible to remove). The family has 10 children and Alicia is pregnant, due in January, with her 11th. The doctors are hoping to take the baby at 7 months.
Mrs. Bradley and her family attend SSPX church in Buffalo – 4 of her girls attend the Dominican school in Massena – Holy Name of Jesus Academy. Six years ago she had a tumor removed from her brain, she was cancer free for 6 years – in May, after an MRI, it was discovered she had another tumor. In pre-op testing, it was found out that she was pregant, she had the operation still (approval of Fr Pfeiffer and Libietus) – several weeks ago, she was not feeling well, had some tests, and to the amazement of the surgeon, there is a tumor the size of a grapefruit in her head – with “legs” which means that is cannot be removed, as there are too many tentacles. Alicia is on a fruit and vegetable-only diet, and they are hoping to stop the growth of this tumor and, perhaps, with supplements, actually reduce it. May God’s Holy Will be done. She has only been given between 3-6 weeks to live.
The only operation she may have is one to remove part of it to relieve pressure in her head. The doctors are hoping she will live long enough for them to take the baby at 7 months – she is 5 months pregnant. All of her children have just been told recently, some attend the Syracuse SSPX school, some in Massena, and the mother and 3 young children are with family near Syracuse to help care for things.
We are asking God, through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, for a miracle. Please, in addition to remembering her in your daily prayers and rosaries, add 3 Memorares for this intention.
Also, if you are able to help this family financially with their escalating bills, it would be a great blessing. Donations in any amount can be sent to Alicia’s sister-in-law, Colleen Edwards, 2758 Connors Road , Baldwinsville , NY 13027 .

Please pray for Naomi, who emailed me this evening to explain her absence from the blog which is due to some severe dizziness and spells of falling unconscious. She’s had to visit doctors, A & E and now has an appointment with a neurologist on the 20th October, so I promised to ask you all to remember her in your prayers. She is, naturally, very worried about this health scare.
Our Lady of Lourdes, health of the sick, pray for her.

Crossraguel, semperfidelis has not been well herself, recently, or she’d have responsed to your question. However, there is a photo in this week’s SCO of Bishop Moran so he seems to have recovered.
I’m sure semperfidelis won’t mind me asking for some prayers for her own health, since she’s not been well this past while.
Our Lady of Lourdes, health of the sick, pray for her. Our Lady of Aberdeen, pray for her. (I LOVE the hymn to Our Lady of Aberdeen, Crossraguel – have you heard it yet? A beautiful hymn).
-
Crossraguel on December 18, 2009 at 4:39 pm
editor,
I have not yet heard the hymn, only been here midweek to date so perhaps will hear it once I’m settled.
Hopefully His Grace is indeed back to health, the Evening Express carried a message regarding Christmas from him this week.
Sorry to hear of semperfidelis being ill too, will endeavour to keep her intention (albeit find it strange praying for a nom de plume!).

Thanks Crossraguel. Here is another request for prayers for semperfidelis, this time from herself.
I’ve had a brief emailed message from semperfidelis who has been very ill for some weeks now. She asked me to post a request for prayers on the blog. I phoned her but she was too ill to speak. Please remember her in your prayers.
Our Lady of Lourdes, health of the sick, pray for her.

I wonder if people could perhaps say a wee prayer for my newborn son Francis. He born six days ago, a month premature. He has not been feeding properly, and has continued to loose weight to such an extent that he has had to go back into the Special Baby Care Unit. The paediatrician has said that it can be quite common with premature babies, and they’ve done a whole load of other tests that have all come back negative.
Thank you.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for him!

I’d like us to pray for all the priests who have left ministry to get married, since today is the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul and I now know a few priests who have made this, I think, terrible choice.
Also, lots of ordinations take place on this day. We should pray for the newly ordained priests, asking Saints Peter and Paul to intercede for them.
