Congratulations to both. Welcome to Patrick, and thanks to Our Lady of Good Success and to St Gerard.

Congratulations to Petrus & Martha on the safe arrival of Patrick Dominic Gerard, that God will grant the family every grace in faith and unity.
PS Let me know if you find yourselves in want of an outfit which would make young Patrick resemble a bumble bee, an over-zealous aunt bought us one which it is not expedient for us to utilise and is keen to find a worthy home.

I should have made mention that Patrick was born on the feast of the great St. Robert Bellarmine.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Petrus!! Here is a little prayer for Patrick Dominic Gerard:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God,
You were begotten before all time,
and yet desired to become an infant in time.
You are delighted with the innocence of tender years.
You lovingly embraced the children
who were brought to You,
and blessed them.
In the blessings of Your sweetness,
go before this infant Patrick
and grant that no evil may mar his intellect.
Grant too that,
growing in age,
wisdom and grace,
he may ever be pleasing to You,
who liveth and reigneth as our God and King
with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
for ever and ever.Amen.

Petrus
My belated congratulations to you and your wife. I was up in Aberdeen today, so just catching up.
Just think how fortunate that little newborn is to be graced with life, health and parents who have the traditional Catholic Faith. Great for wee Noah too! He now has a brother.
He’s a good weight (8lb 7oz). That’s nearly my weight! And he has a great name, although Martin was my preferred choice (joke!!) God bless you and your family.

Does that weight include the 10 packs of cigarettes in your pockets?

Torkay, how did you guess????
I’ve just posted a link to the Jacinta thread, at the end of the Notices (see end of lead thread) so that you can check her progress and leave messages more easily.
I visited her yesterday, so for ease of reference and to save you the tremendous bother of scrolling up to the Notices (!) here’s the link, just this once…
http://www.catholictruthscotland.com/blog/?p=1895See what I mean by “satire”, Torkay? See why they call it “tone & style” over here or, put another way, “downright cheek”?
I am dying to see this new baby (with the most wonderful name!) Oh and I’m presuming that he’ll be at Mass on Sunday, well behaved and properly catechised? He’ll know when to kneel, stand etc?
No excuses, now, Petrus. We’ll understand if he can’t make the Friday 7pm Mass – that’s fair enough, but Sunday?

Noah is loving it….Hhhmmm……Wait till Paddy starts casting the snakes from the Ark. You’ll know all about it then…!!!!
Congrats, and plenty of Guinness, you’ll need it.

Congrtulations Petre!
Hope to see him soon! With a name like that, it’ll be either Parkhead or the priesthood for him! You’ll have to bring him to Mass soon!

crouchback, don’t you dare spoil a beautiful name like Patrick with such an awful derivation. Patrick it is, pure and simple…

Petrus,
May I too add my heartiest congratulations to Martha and your good self on the safe delivery of such a healthy bouncing babe.
May Our Lord Bless you with many more brothers for Noah, and, to be PC, sisters.
-
editor on September 17, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Benedict, to be TRULY PC, it should be “sisters and brothers…”
Even though you KNOW it doesn’t make sense! -
Athanasius on September 17, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Since we’re being PC, should it not be sisters, brothers and hairdressers?
-
Petrus on September 17, 2009 at 9:40 pm
And male midwives!
Thanks for all the recent messages. Athanasius, we thank God everyday for the traditional Faith. I know that you love babies and will look forward to seeing my boy! Benedict, thanks also for your kind message.
Another great piece of news – Patrick Dominic will be baptized a week on Sunday, in St Andrew’s Catholic Church (SSPX). Deo gratias!

I can’t resist babies. They’re like wee magnets for me. I can’t wait to see Patrick.
Actually, I was viewing some funny baby laughing videos on youtube earlier tonight. It did me a world of good. So funny!

I’ve just looked at the blog – what wonderful news! Heartiest congratulations to Martha and Petrus on the birth of Patrick Dominic Gerard. I wish I could be present at a rare Catholic baptism, but I live just a tad too far away. I’ll remember him in my prayers, though, on the day.

Petrus,
Many congratulations and God bless you and your family. I sent you a text earlier asking if Noah had seen his wee brother yet, forgetting that you’d arranged a home birth! So, no need to answer that question!! I’m sure Noah is enjoying being a big brother. And fantastic saints’ names too — no doubt as he gets older you’ll let him know all about the three wonderful saints of God he was named after.
So glad to hear you’re following the traditional practice of getting Patrick baptised nice and early. Most of the children in my class weren’t baptised until they were at least 4-6 months old, or even older in many cases. Baptisms have become more of an excuse for a party or family get-together than an essential Sacrament. So, glad to hear it! I’ve never been to a traditional baptism, but the whole ceremony seems really beautiful:
http://www.fisheaters.com/baptism2.htmlOh and Athy, agree with you 100% about the laughing baby videos – hilarious!!

Hilarious, Athanasius. Lovely, innocent little babies. Thanks for posting those links!
As little Patrick’s first day in this world concludes, I have only one more thing to say to him – a renewed welcome, darling. And to the rest of you…
Goodnight!

I hope baby Patrick’s first full day on this earth has been a happy and (dare I say it..) peaceful one!
He’s not been far from my thoughts all day and, as I mentioned on the Jacinta thread, when I told Betty he’d arrived, she was delighted and clapped her hands spontaneously, so this is one very welcome and much loved baby, already – and we haven’t even seen him yet!

Today was little Patrick’s Baptism – and what a beautiful rite of Baptism, is the traditional rite. The priest explained everything perfectly as the rite progressed so that we could all follow it and the baby was an angel throughout. Not until today had I realised how the modernists have watered down (and spoilt) the rite of Baptism. Tragic, really.
I hope I’m not giving away secrets when I say that two of our lesser known (but excellent) bloggers were the Godparents and they made the responses loud and clear – we could hear every word.
The baby looked gorgeous in his Baptismal robe and his elder brother, a delightful toddler, also looked adorable and behaved beautifully.
Both sides of the family were represented and I (being something of a busybody) managed to speak to most, if not all, of them in the tearoom – lovely people, one and all.
Thanks Petrus and Martha for allowing us all to witness this beautiful occasion. Oh and thanks for the invitation to partake of tea and cake afterwards!
-
Petrus on September 27, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Thank you for those kind words, Editor. It truly was a wonderful occasion. Thanks to those bloggers who either stayed for the Baptism or gave us cards and gifts. your generosity means a lot.
Editor, you’re not a busy body. I’d say a young, witty, glamourous hostess with the mostest!
Thanks must go out to the Society of Saint Pius X. God truly has sent these holy priests to provide for us in this catastrophic crisis. Thank God for Archbishop Lefebvre!
And I’m still not sure where the cakes came from. What a lovely gesture.

I would also like to express my joy at Patrick’s baptism in accoradnce with the traditional rite of the Church. It is so much more beautiful a ceremony than the very basic words and pouring of water that takes place in the average parish. Although this is valid, they don’t know what they’ve lost since the full traditional ceremony was discarded.
Congratulations to Petrus & Martha (and, of course, the other wee fella).
I’m fairly put out about the cakes, though. Nobody said there would be cakes. I want my cake and I want to eat it!!!
